Equine veterinary diagnosis, treatment, consultancy & referrals
In order to provide the best quality equine veterinary care – first opinion diagnosis, treatment and referrals for both equine in-patients and out-patients. All treatment is given following accurate, informed (not presumptive) diagnosis by an experienced equine veterinary surgeon, backed up by state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities.

With the latest, most sophisticated equine diagnostic equipment at our modern equine clinic at Maids Moreton near Buckingham, we provide both non-invasive and inimally-invasive equine veterinary diagnostic techniques wherever possible.
Non-invasive diagnostic capabilities include digital imaging (e.g. thermography and X-ray), ultrasound, electrocardiogram (ECG), endoscopy, gastroscopy and digital gait analysis (Equinalyis).
Minimally invasive techniques include eEndoscopy (dental arcade, upper respiratory tract and gutteral pouch), bronchoscopy (gutteral pouch), gastroscopy, uroscopy, nerve block (subcutaneous, intra-articular including spine & sacroiliac joint and ultrasound (all body tissues including heart. abdominal cavity, pelvic cavity and spine).
Laboratory diagnostic techniques include blood sample and urine samples.
Gait analysis & locomotor loss of performance assessment
Jane Nixon has a special interest in performance assessment and has invested in the latest equipment to aid diagnosis and analysis of performance related issues prior to treatment. We cooperate closely with complementary equine disciplines, e.g remedial farriery, to ensure the best possible outcome for our equine patients.
Veterinary treatment at equine clinic or client stable

Treatment can be provided either at our modern equine clinic at Maids Moreton near Buckingham, or at client’s stables within a 30 mile radius of the equine clinic, within Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. The equine clinic provides facilities for both in and out-patient cases.
All treatment is followed through to complete recovery including return to competition. Follow-up management programmes are tailored to client and patient requirements and carried out by equine vets who have been there and done it themselves.
The vets team at Buckingham Equine Vets pride themselves on providing friendly, helpful and practical advice on all aspects of horse care, plus more advanced levels of examination, diagnosis and treatment.
Treatment modalities include:
Diode laser surgery for surgical cases (e.g. sarcoids, hobday)
ESWT (shockwave therapy)
Recently released drugs (e.g. Tildren (bone), Aclere (ligaments), Irap and PRP (joints)
Appropriate use of drugs and dressings for other medical cases.
24-hour emergency equine veterinary call-out service
In addition to routine client visits and providing equine veterinary diagnosis, performance assessment and treatment at our equine veterinary clinic, Nixon Equine Vets, also provide a 24 hour / 365 day equine veterinary emergency call-out service within 30 miles of the equine clinic. A qualified equine veterinary surgeon is always on duty from Nixon Equine Veterinary Clinic.
Complementary equine treatment and therapy referrals
We co-operate closely with other complementary equine disciplines and arrange referral appointments both at the clinic and at client stables for services such as remedial farriery.
